Table 1 provides symptom based troubleshooting procedures necessary to diagnose malfunctions for the FDS.
The troubleshooting procedures may not correct all malfunctions encountered. However, the procedures provide a
step-by-step approach that directs tests and inspections toward the source of a problem. Each troubleshooting
procedure lists a description of possible causes followed by a step or sequence of steps to check the operation of a
component.
Always irst perform a visual and physical inspection of the suspected unserviceable items. Look for obvious signs
of damage such as loose or broken parts, discoloration, and bad connections.
TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE
SYMPTOM
FDS does not operate when toggle switch is set to ON.
MALFUNCTION
110/120 VAC source power is not available.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
STEP 1.
Unplug FDS from source power.
STEP 2.
Test for 110/120 VAC voltage at source power receptacle.
STEP 3.
Establish 110/120 VAC source power.
MALFUNCTION
Power plug or power cable is defective.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
STEP 1.
STEP 2.
Tag and disconnect wiring from switch.
STEP 3.
Check continuity on hot, neutral and ground circuit between plug and toggle switch box (WP 0040).
STEP 4.
Check for shorts between hot, neutral, and ground (WP 0040).
STEP 5.
MALFUNCTION
Toggle switch is defective.
