FUEL LEAK DURING OPERATION
WARNING
Leaking fuel can ignite and cause serious injury to personnel and damage to equipment. Failure to
comply may result in injury or death to personnel.
When handling fuel, personnel must take appropriate measures to minimize the risk of ire, explosion,
injury, illness, and contamination of personnel and the environment. Safety precautions for ire and spill
control containment measures must be strictly observed. Failure to follow this warning may result in
injury or death to personnel.
Refer to Concepts and Equipment of Petroleum Operations (FM 10-67-1) for fuel spills.
1. Set the toggle switch to OFF (WP 0004) or disconnect power at source.
2. Close valves on the pumping assembly.
3. Relieve any remaining pressure in the FDS by pumping fuel into the equipment being fueled, container or spill
containment system.
4. When pressure is relieved, replace damaged components as required to prevent leakage of fuel.
WARNING
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must always be worn when cleaning up a fuel spill to prevent fuel
from getting on exposed skin. Failure to follow this warning may result in injury to personnel.
