OPERATOR INSTRUCTIONS
THEORY OF OPERATION
Electric Power Flow
A single phase 115 volts AC, 60 Hz input power from an external source, i.e., diesel or JP-8 fuel powered generator
or facility power, that is cabled to the FDS switch enclosure. The switch enclosure is designed to conine any arcing
within the enclosure to prevent igniting of any external fuel vapors. A toggle switch within the enclosure connects
or disconnects electrical power to operate the electric motor. The motor drives an impeller within the pump housing
to move fuel. Refer to for a wiring diagram of the FDS electrical system.
Figure 1.
FDS Power Flow.
Diesel/JP-8 Fuel Flow
Fuel from an external source (e.g., fuel drum or tank) is pulled through the FDS suction hose into the pump inlet.
The pump discharges fuel into the ilter assembly, which separates water and debris from the fuel. The iltered fuel
continues through the low meter which displays the current low and the cumulative pumped volume. The fuel
continues through the swivel joint, through the discharge hose to the nozzle (refer to Figure 2).
