WARNING Before application of heat, such as open flame, torch, or arc welding, be sure that all traces of cleaning solvent and flammable fluids or vapors are absent from repair area. 2  Replace weld nuts if damaged.  Remove damaged weld nut using cold chisel and hammer.  Grind weld bead down to parent material.  Remove any burrs from bolt hole.  Weld new weld nut into place using arc welding methods. 3  Straighten minor bends in trailer frame. 3-128
