TM 5-4320-305-24 2-45.  REPLACE/REPAIR WHEEL BRAKES (Continued) e. Remove two shoe cups (8) and two springs (9) from shoe assemblies (3 and 4). f. Remove two shoe cups (10). g. Remove spring (11). h. Remove retaining ring (12) and washer (13). i. Lift shoe assembly (3) far enough to access brake cable.  Remove brake cable from parking lever (14). j. Remove brake cable from backing plate (15). k. Remove socket (16). l. Remove shoe assembly (4). m. Remove shoe assembly (3) with travel link (17), shoe lever (18), parking lever (14), and toggle link (19) attached. n. Remove washers (20) from parking lever (14).  Remove parking lever (14) from toggle link (19). o. Remove retaining ring (23) from pin (24).  Remove pin from toggle link (19). p. Remove nut (25), screw (26), and travel link (17) from shoe lever (18). q. Remove nut (21) and screw (22).  Separate shoe lever (18) from shoe assembly (3). r. Remove push rod (27) from wheel cylinder assembly (29). s. Remove two screws with lockwashers (28) and remove wheel cylinder assembly (29) from backing plate (15). t. Remove two pins (30) and cover plate (31) from backing plate (15). INSPECTION/REPAIR: 1 Inspect  linings  of  both  shoe  assemblies.    Measure  lining  thicknesses.    Replace  a  shoe  assembly  if  lining  is  less than  0.094  inch  (2.388  mm)  thick.    Inspect  for  loose  or  missing  rivets.    Inspect  for  glazed  or  grooved  linings. Inspect linings for uneven wear.  Replace both shoe assemblies if either is damaged. 2 Inspect springs for wear or cracks, especially at hooks.  Replace if damaged. 3 Inspect backing plate for cracks.  Inspect bolt holes for signs of wear.  Replace if damaged or badly corroded. 2-175
