This Task Covers: a.  Removal b.  Installation c.  Adjustment Initial Setup: Tool/Test Equipment: Equipment Conditions: • General mechanic's tool kit (Item 4, Appendix B) • Semitrailer uncoupled (refer to TM 9-2330-398-10). • Negative and positive battery cables disconnected Material/Parts: (para 2-33). • Lockwasher (2) (Item 94, Appendix F) • Self-locking nut (2) (Item 173, Appendix F) a.  REMOVAL WARNING •   When   performing   electrical   maintenance,   always   disconnect   intervehicular electrical  cable  from  semitrailer  and  disconnect  negative  and   positive   battery cables  from  batteries.    Failure  to  follow  this  warning  may  create  a  spark  and explosion, resulting in serious Injury or death to personnel. Alternator weighs approximately 25 pounds.  Use care when replacing alternator, to avoid Injury to personnel or damage to equipment. 2-209
