(a) Use a feeler gauge to check that clearance (6) between socket of complete pushrod (4) and pinion (5)
is 0.039 inch (1.0 mm).
(b) Check that clearance (7) is 0.039 inch (1.0 mm).
(c) Clearance can be adjusted by adjusting complete pushrod (4) for clearance (6) and adjusting rocker
shaft for clearance (7).
NOTE
During engine operation decompression shaft must not move. Assured clearances will prevent
movement.
