2-3.
INTRODUCTION -Continued.
b. PMCS Procedures - Continued.
NOTE
The terms "Ready/Available" and "Mission Capable" refer to the same status: equipment is on hand and
is able to perform its combat missions. (See DA PAM 738-750).
(7) Increased Inspections. Perform weekly as well as Before Operations PMCS if:
(a) You are the assigned operator and have not operated the item since the last weekly.
(b) You are operating the item for the first time.
(8) Categories of leakage are classified as follows:
(a)Class I: Seepage of fluid (as indicated by wetness or discoloration) not great enough to form drops.
(b) Class II: Leakage of fluid great enough to form drops but not great enough to cause drops to drip from the item
being checked/inspected.
(c)Class III: Leakage of fluid great enough to form drops that fall from the item being checked/inspected.
CAUTION
Equipment operation is allowable with minor leakage (Class I or II). Of course, you must consider the
fluid capacity in the item being checked/inspected. When in doubt, notify your supervisor.
When operating with Class I or Class II leaks, continue to check fluid levels as required in your PMCS.
Class III leaks should be reported to your supervisor or direct support maintenance.
2-4. OPERATOR'S PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES.
NOTE
If the equipment must be kept in operation, check and service only those items that can be checked and
serviced without disturbing operation. Make the complete checks and services when the equipment can
be shut down.
