TM 10-4930-240-13 4-36.  ELBOW ASSEMBLY REPAIR. This task covers: a. Disassembly b. Cleaning c. Repair d. Assembly INITIAL SETUP: Tools: Material/Parts: General Mech Tool Kit (App B, Sect III, Item 1) Cleaning Solvent (Item 1, App E) Equipment Condition: Wiping Rag (Item 2, App E) Adapter assembly removed (para 4-13a) Coupling Gasket (Item 1, App J) Coupling Gasket (Item 4, App J) NOTES Ensure  that  all  parts  identified  as  mandatory  replacement  parts  are  discarded and replaced with new components.  The following instructions are typical for all elbows supplied with the AFARE. a.  Disassembly.  Refer to figure 4-24. (1)  Remove three spilt rings (1, 2, and 3) and chains (4 and 5). (2)  Remove dust cap (6) from male end of elbow (7). (3)  Remove gasket (8) from dust cap (6). (4)  Remove dust plug (9) from female end of elbow (7). (5)  Remove gasket (10) from female end of elbow (7). b.  Cleaning. WARNING Dry cleaning solvent, P-D-680, Type III, is potentially dangerous to personnel and equipment.    Eye  and  skin  protection  is  required.    Avoid  repeated  and  prolonged skin  contact.    Wash  hands  immediately  after  exposure.    Do  not  use  near  open flame or excessive heat.  Use only in areas with good ventilation. Using wiping rags and cleaning solvent, remove dirt and contaminants from all components. c.  Repair.  Replace damaged or defective parts and all sealing components. 4-71
