UPPER FIFTH
WHEEL PLATE
AND CATWALK
DRAIN PLUGS
•
a. Clean out front and rear corners of upper fifth wheel plate. Re-
move grease and dirt to allow water to drain from upper fifth wheel
plate.
•
b. Inspect front of semitrailer and catwalk drain plugs. Drain plugs
should be installed at all times (except when washing semitrailer)
to prevent water from draining into upper fifth wheel plate area.

ELECTRICAL
SYSTEM
•
Check chassis electrical tubing connections and retaining clips for
security and condition.

SUSPENSION
•
a. Tighten cross tube screws as required.
•
b. Check spring leaves, clips, and spring U-bolts for looseness or
damage.
•
c. Check torque rods for looseness or damage.

KINGPIN AND
UPPER FIFTH
WHEEL PLATE
NOTE
Kingpin groove original dimension is 2.0 in. (5.1 cm).
•
Inspect condition of kingpin. Kingpin and upper fifth wheel plate
should be replaced when any of the following conditions exist:
(1) Wear of 1/16, in. (1.6 mm) over 1/4 of the circumference of the
kingpin. This would be a condition of uneven wear on one or
more sides of the kingpin wear surface.
