2-6. FINAL SITE PREPARATION. CAUTION Electrical equipment used within 50 feet (15.24 meters) of the tank should be approved for use in Class 1, Group D, Division 1, hazardous locations as defined by the National Electrical Code. a. Clear the site area within 100 feet (30.48 meters) of the tank of all dry grass, brush, and weeds.  Remove all spark-producing  equipment  or  devices  from  the  cleared  area.    Post  signs  stating  "FLAMMABLE  LIQUID  -  NO SMOKING OR OPEN FLAME WITHIN 100 FEET OF TANK". b. Have   fire   extinguishing   equipment   on   hand.      Equipment   should   include   a   quick-smothering   type   of extinguishing agent, such as carbon dioxide or dry chemical, or a permanent type of extinguishing agent, such as foam.  Locate equipment approximately 50 feet (15.24 meters) from tank. c. Secure area by fencing or other means to prevent access by unauthorized personnel. d. Post signs indicating where to seek help in case of emergency. 2-14
