TM 5-4320-308-13 3-25.  REPLACE FUEL FILTER, FUEL PRESSURE LINE, HOSES, AND FITTINGS This task covers: a. Removal b. Cleaning/inspection c. Installation INITIAL SETUP Tools General Safety Instructions Tool kit, general mechanics automotive Unit must be cool.  Fuel tank must be empty. Materials/Parts Diesel fuel oil (Item 2, Appendix E) Well-ventilated area required. REMOVAL: WARNING Death or serious injury could occur if fuel is not handled carefully.  Use in a well-ventilated area away  from  open  flame,  arcing  equipment,  ignition  sources,  heaters,  or  excessive  heat.    Engines must be turned off and cool before refueling.  Use proper refueling procedures and equipment to avoid spillage.  Do not run engine near open fuel containers.  Always store fuel in proper, marked containers.  DO NOT SMOKE. CAUTION As each fuel hose, connection, or connection port is removed, be sure to tape over or plug each open connection to prevent contaminants from entering fuel system. 1 Remove screw (1), spacers (2), and clamp (3). 2 Remove fuel filter (4) from fuel hose (5) (lift pump to fuel filter). 3 Remove fuel filter (4) from fuel hose (6) (fuel filter to injection pump). 4 Discard fuel filter (4) and tape or plug fuel hoses (5 and 6). 5 Remove fuel hose (5) from lift pump discharge fitting. 3-54
