Discharge check valve
6-inch check valve on discharge manifold. Opens automatically when
discharge pressure is reached. If liquid being discharged backs up, the check
valve closes to keep liquid from backing up into the pump. Can be opened
manually for draining the pump. Can be closed manually to hold liquid in the
pump for priming.

Discharge gate valve
Hand-operated, 6-inch gate valve located on the dis- charge manifold assembly.
The suction and discharge gate valves are used to control the flow of liquid
through the pump assembly.
