MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. ENGINE FAILS TO CRANK OR CRANKS AT LOW SPEED
Notify organizational maintenance.
2. ENGINE CRANKS BUT FAILS TO START
Death or serious injury could occur if fuel is
not handled carefully. Use in a well-ventilated
area away from open flame, arcing equipment,
ignition sources, heaters, or excessive heat.
Engines must be turned off and cool before
refueling. Use proper refueling procedures and
equipment to avoid spillage. Do not run en-
gines near open fuel containers. Always store
fuel in proper, marked containers. DO NOT
SMOKE.
Step 1.
Check for insufficient fuel supply.
Fill fuel tank.
Step 2.
Check starting procedures under prevailing conditions.
If starting procedures have been performed correctly, but engine still
fails to start, notify organizational maintenance.
Step 3.
Check air cleaner restriction indicator.
If red band appears in window of restriction indicator, and rain hood is
not blocked and no damage to system components is found, replace air
filter (para 3-4).
