Explanation

A p p l i e d to repair parts (assemblies and components) which

are considered economically repairable at direct and

g e n e r a l support maintenance levels. When the maintenance

capability to repair these items does not exist, they are

n o r m a l l y d i s p o s e d o f a t t h e G S l e v e l . When supply

c o n s i d e r a t i o n s d i c t a t e , s o m e of these repair parts may

be listed for automatic return to supply for depot level

repair as set forth in AR 710-50. When so listed, they

will be replaced by supply on an exchange basis.

Repair parts and assemblies which are economically re-

p a r a b l e at DSU and GSU activities and which normally are

furnished by supply on an exchange basis. when items are

d e t e r m i n e d by a GSU to be uneconomically reparable they

will be evacuated to a depot for evaluation and analysis

before final disposition.

High dollar value recoverable repair parts which are

subject to special handling and are issued on an exchange

basis. Such repair parts are normally repaired or over-

hauled at depot maintenance activities.

Repair parts specifically selected for salvage by re-

clamation units because of precious metal c o n t e n t

c r i t i c a l m a t e r i a l s , or high dollar value r e u s a b l e

casings or castings.

s t o c k number assigned to the item and will be used for requisition-

ing purposes.
