CHAPTER 4
ORGANIZATIONAL MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
4-1.
GENERAL.
This chapter contains the removal, cleaning, inspection, and in-
stallation procedures for Organizational Maintenance.
Refer to
TM 5-2850-203-14 for engine maintenance.
Before maintenance always keep in mind the
WARNINGS and CAUTIONS located on the inside
front cover.
4-2.
FUEL SYSTEM.
This section contains the maintenance instructions for the engine
fuel system components which are not described in TM 5-2850-203-14.
It includes coverage of the fuel tank, fuel filter, and fuel lines and
fittings.
4-2.1.
Fuel Tank.
a.
Removal.
(1) Refer to figure 4-1.
Remove drain plug (1) and drain
fuel into a suitable container.
(2) Disconnect fuel line (2) at fuel filter (3).
(3) Remove screws (4) that attach fuel tank to frame.
(4) Remove fuel tank cap (5) and strainer (6).
b.
Cleaning and Inspection.
(1) Thoroughly clean fuel tank.
Drycleaning solvent, P-D-680, used to clean parts
is potentially dangerous to personnel and property.
Avoid inhalation of fumes and repeated or prolonged
skin exposure.
Wash exposed skin thoroughly with
soap and water.
Use in well ventilated area away
from open flame or excessive heat. Flash point is
100°F (38°C).
(2) Clean fuel strainer and cap with approved cleaning
solvent; shake dry.
