Section V. UNIT MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
4-7. GENERAL.
This section contains instructions for performing unit level maintenance on the 500 gallon drum.
4-8. PERSONNEL SAFETY.
To ensure safety of personnel, proper care should be used when handling assemblies and parts. Many assemblies are
heavy. The assistance of another person, lifting device, or other support equipment may be required to move or position
heavy items.
Personnel must remove all items of jewelry (rings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, etc.) and loose clothing before working
on the equipment. Jewelry and loose clothing can get caught in moving equipment and result in injury to personnel.
When performing maintenance on the 500 gallon drum, keep in mind that the purpose of the equipment is to store and
distribute fuel Cleaning fluids, lubricants, preservatives, paint or other chemicals must not be allowed to contaminate the
fuel.
Operate the equipment after performing maintenance to ensure repairs have been performed correctly and equipment
can be returned to service.
4-9. PROPER EQUIPMENT.
Obtain proper equipment before beginning maintenance. This includes hand tools and/or special tools, receptacles for
storing small parts, and expendable materials required by the maintenance task.
4-10. REPLACE QUICK-DISCONNECT ADAPTER.
