TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES
INTRODUCTION TO TROUBLESHOOTING
This work package contains troubleshooting information for locating and correcting most of the operating
problems which may develop in the collapsible fabric petroleum tanks and their components. Each
malfunction is followed by a list of tests or inspections which will help you to determine probable causes
and corrective actions to take.
This work package cannot list all malfunctions that may occur or all tests or inspections and corrective
actions. If a malfunction is not listed or is not corrected by the corrective actions listed, notify your
supervisor.
The information below lists the common malfunctions which you may find during the operation and
maintenance of the collapsible fabric petroleum tanks. You should perform the tests/inspections and
corrective actions in the order listed.
TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE
TANK
SYMPTOM
Tank fabric leaks.
MALFUNCTION
Inspect tank fabric for punctures, tears, and damaged seams.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Repair tank (WP 0013 00).
If leak can not be repaired, notify unit maintenance.
TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE
DRAIN HOSE ASSEMBLY
SYMPTOM
Drain hose assembly leaks.
MALFUNCTION
Verify drain hose gate valve is closed.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Close drain valve.
Inspect for fuel leakage at drain valve stem.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
If leak found, notify unit maintenance for repair.
