3-5. DRY BREAK COUPLING REPAIR.
This task consists of:

NOTES
The following procedures are used to perform emergency repairs when
replacement gaskets are not available. Gaskets on the dry break coupling and
dust cap are interchangeable. Repair of a typical valved dry break coupling is
shown. Repair of non-valved dry break couplings is similar.
a.
Removal. Refer to figure 3-3.
(1)
Disconnect dust cap (1) from coupling (2).
(2)
Remove seal (3) from dust cap (1).
(3)
Remove defective seal (4) from coupling (2).
b.
Installation. Refer to figure 3-3.
(1)
Using clean wiping rag, remove grit, sand, and dirt from sealing surfaces of coupling (2).
(2)
Position seal (3) (from dust cap) on seal seat (5).
(3)
Work seal (3) onto seal seat (5). Make sure seal is seated evenly without wrinkles or bulges.
(4)
Install component in fuel system (para 3-2).
(5)
Startup fuel system (para 2-12c) and test coupling (2) for leaks.
