5-3. RECIRCULATION NOZZLE REPAIR.
This task consists of:
a. Disassembly
b. Cleaning

Cleaning Solvent (Item 1, App F)
Shop Equip., Electrical Repair (App B, Sect III, Item 5)
Wiping Rag (Item 2, App F)
Adapter (App B, Sect III, Item 3)
Silicone Compound (Item 3, App F)
Equipment Condition:
Anti-seize Tape (Item 5, App F)
Handles and inlet elbow removed (para 4-15)
Repair Kit (Item 22, App J)
Cotter Pin (Item 23, App J)
NOTE
Ensure that all parts identified as mandatory replacement parts are discarded and
replaced with new components.
a.
Disassembly.
(1)
Remove screw (1, figure 5-5) and attached preformed packing (2) from collar (5).
NOTE
To prevent loss of balls and aid assembly, place a suitable container under collar
opening. Catch all balls as they fall from body.
(2)
Position collar (5) so that opening for balls (3) is pointing down.
(3)
Rotate body (9) back and forth on collar (5) until 49 balls (3) are removed.
(4)
Connect collar (5) to adapter (10).
(5)
Rotate body (9) to the left until index lug (7) alines with groove r6) in collar (5).
(6)
Remove body (9) from collar (5).
(7)
Remove collar (5) from adapter (10).
(8)
If required, cut and remove bumper (4) from collar (5).
(9)
Position body (9) with poppet (2) pointing up, then rotate lever (8) to open position (poppet extended).
(10)
Remove cotter pin (1, figure 5-6) and unscrew poppet (2) from shaft (3).

Pull seal (6) and attached parts from body (12).
(12)
Remove snap ring (4) and plate (5) from seal (6).
