TM 10-4320-351-14 TABLE 3-1.  TROUBLESHOOTING (Continued) MALFUNCTION TEST OR INSPECTION CORRECTIVE ACTION 2.  Engine will not crank Check electrical connections to starter a. Make sure all connections between battery and starter are tight and clean. b. Verify that control cable is connected between accessory module and engine module. c. Attempt manual start.  If engine cranks, a weak or dead battery, or damaged starting circuit cable is probable. d. If manual start fails, notify unit maintenance. 3.  Engine cranks but will not start Check fuel supply to engine a. Add fuel to fuel tank if required. b. Check that fuel selector valve is in ON or EXTERNAL ON position. c. Make sure all fuel lines between fuel tank and engine are connected:  d.  Notify unit maintenance. 4.  Engine starts but lacks power or will not continue running a. Check for blockage at air intake. b. Inspect air filter element for clogging. Tap lightly against hand to remove clogging. c. Notify unit maintenance. 5.  Engine will not start electrically Manually raise black start control and attempt to start. If engine starts, notify unit maintenance of electrical problem in fuel shutoff solenoid circuit. 6.  Engine exhaust produces black smoke. Step 1.  Check for clogged air intake. Remove filter element from air filter.  Check for blockage at air intake. 3-2
