Figure 4-23. Cleaning Spark Arrestor
a.
Removal: (Refer to Figure 4-23).
(1)
Remove nut (1) and washer (2).
(2)
Remove spark arrestor end cap (3) and two baffles (4) from shaft.
b.
Inspection.
(1)
Inspect spark arrestor components for cracks or damage. Replace damage spark arrestor.
(2)
Inspect spark arrestor components for carbon deposits.
c.
Cleaning:
(1)
Wash spark arrestor components thoroughly with diesel fuel or suitable solvent.
(2)
Dry spark arrestor components thoroughly before reinstalling.
d.
Installation.
(1)
Position two baffles (4) on shaft.
(2)
Position spark arrestor end cap (5) and secure with washer (2) and nut (1).
