TM 10-4320-316-14 Table 4-3.  Unit Troubleshooting. MALFUNCTION TEST OR INSPECTION CORRECTIVE ACTION 1.  STARTING HANDLE FAILS TO PULL. Step 1.  Check recoil starter assembly for binding. Inspect recoil starter operation per para.  4-33. If recoil starter is not binding, proceed to step 2. Step 2   Check for inoperable pump assembly. Remove pump cover plate and check for binding, jamming, or rubbing of internal pump components (see para.  4-26). If pump assembly is operating properly, notify Direct Support Maintenance. 2.  HANDLE PULLS; BUT ENGINE FAILS TO START. Step 1.  Check for air in fuel injection line. Open sound enclosure door. Disconnect fuel injection line from fuel injection valve.  (See para.  4-30) Push decompression lever down and keep it down. Pull the recoil starter handle several times with decompression lever down until fuel begins to flow from fuel injection line. Reconnect fuel injection line to fuel injection valve and attempt to restart engine. If engine fails to start, proceed to step 2. Step 2.  Check for clogged fuel injector line. Disconnect fuel injection line from fuel injector valve and fuel injector pump and check for clogged line.  (See para.  4-30). If fuel injection line is clogged, clean it. If fuel injection line is not clogged, proceed to step 3. 4-11
