To ensure that the M131 Series Fuel Tank Semitrailers are ready for operation at all times, they must be inspected on a regular basis so that defects may be found before they result unserious damage, equipment failure, or injury to personnel. This section contains systematic instructions on inspections, adjustments, and corrections to be performed  by  the  operator/crew. b. While performing PMCS, read and follow all safety instructions found in the Warning Summary at the front of this manual. Keep in mind all WARNINGs and CAUTIONs. 2-4.   SERVICE   INTERVALS . Perform PMCS, found in Table 2-1, at the following intervals: (1) Perform Before (B) PMCS just before operating the semitrailer. (2) Perform During (D) PMCS while operating the semitrailer. (3) Perform After (A) PMCS right after operating the semitrailer. (4) Perform Weekly (W) PMCS once each week. 2-5.    REPORTING    REPAIRS. All defects which the operator cannot fix must be reported on a DA Form 2404, Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet, immediately after completing PMCS. If a serious problem is found, IMMEDIATELY report it to your supervisor. 2-6.   GENERAL   PMCS   PROCEDURES. WARNING Dry cleaning solvent, P-D-680, Is toxic and flammable. Always wear protective goggles and  gloves,  and  use  only  in  a  well-ventilated  area.  Avoid  contact  with  skin,  eyes,  and clothes, and DO NOT breathe vapors. DO NOT use near open flame or excessive heat. The   solvent’s   flash   point   is   100°F-138°F   (38°C-59°C).   If   you   become   dizzy   while using  cleaning  solvent,  immediately  get  fresh  air  and  medical  help.  If  solvent  contacts eyes,  Immediately  wash  your  eyes  and  get  medical  aid. a. Keep equipment clean. Dirt, oil, and debris may cover up a serious problem. Clean as you work and as needed. Use dry cleaning solvent (Item 16, Appendix E) on all metal surfaces. Use dishwashing compound (Item 7, Appendix E) and water on rubber, plastic, and painted surfaces. 2-12
