REAR AXLE REPLACEMENT
This Task Covers: Replacement
Initial Setup:
Equipment Conditions:
Tools/Test Equipment:
• Hub and brakedrum removed (para 4-44).
• General mechanic’s tool kit
• Backing plates removed from axle (para 4-30).
• Field automotive shop set
• Hydraulic hose removed (para 4-34).
• Hydraulic line and axle tee removed (para 4-34).
Personnel Required: Two
• Torque rod disconnected from axle (para 4-54).
1.
Position a floor jack under axle (1).
2.
Move axle (1) and free springs (3) from spring guide brackets (2). Remove axle from semitrailer.
3.
Position axle (1) on semitrailer with springs (3) in spring guide brackets (2).
