Installation INITIAL  SETUP: Tools EQUIPMENT CONDITION Shop set, automotive repair, field Para Condition  Description maintenance, basic 2-24 Throttle control vernier removed Tool kit, master mechanics from engine. 2-27 Crankcase breather removed. Camshaft bearing tool No. 143630 2-34 Starter motor removed. Camshaft plug installer No. 143610 3-6 Engine removed from skid and Crankcase cylinder seat refacing tool from pump assembly. No.  150020 3-8 Lube oil filter, lines, and fittings Torque gage No. 101910 removed. 3-10 Oil pan assembly removed from Materials/Parts engine 3-11 Oil pump removed from engine. Crocus abrasive cloth (Item 1, Appendix C) 3-12 Fuel system lines and fittings Diesel fuel oil (Item 6, Appendix C) removed. Lubricating oil (Item 10, Appendix C) 3-23 Adapter housing removed from engine. References 4-4 Injection pump removed from engine. MIL-1-6868 Magnetic Particle Inspection 4-8 Camshaft removed from crankcase 4-11 Connecting rods removed from engine. 4-12 Crankshaft removed from crankcase. Special Environmental Conditions Well-ventilated area required for cleaning. REMOVAL: Remove as described in Equipment Condition DISASSEMBLY: 1 Remove bearing cap (1), stop rings (2), dowel bushings (3), and main bearings (4) in accordance with paragraph 4-12. 2 Do not remove camshaft bushing (5) and dished plug (6) unless replacement is required.  If bushing and/or plug must be removed, they are not reusable and must be discarded.  If required, remove and discard in accordance with paragraph 4-8. 4-104
