TM 5-4320-305-24 2-48.  REPLACE/REPAIR AXLE, WHEELS, AND TIRES (Continued) WARNING Dry  cleaning  solvent  P-D-680  (safety  or  Stoddard's  Solvent)  is  potentially  dangerous.    Avoid repeated  and  prolonged  breathing  of  vapors  and  skin  contact  with  the  liquid.    Do  not  use  near open flame, arcing equipment, or other ignition source.  Always wear eye protection and protective clothing.  The flash point of P-D-680 is 100° to 138 °F (38° to 59°C). 3 Wipe axle bearing shoulders with a cloth moistened with dry cleaning solvent. 4 Install grease seal (11) on axle (12). 5 Pack bearings (9) about 1/3 full of MIL-G-10924 grease, and install in integral hub and brake drum (10). 6 Install  integral  hub  and  brake  drum  on  axle  (12).    Take  care  to  avoid  damaging  lips  of  grease  seal  (11)  when installing hub and brake drum (10) on axle (12). 7 Install grease cup (5) on axle (12). 8 Install washer (8) and axle nut (7) on axle (12).  Tighten axle nut (7) slightly to seat the bearings (9).  Then, back off the nut (7) and tighten hand tight. 9 Install tube (4) in tire (3). 10 Install tire (3) on wheel (2) and inflate to 45 psi (310.3 kPa) maximum. 11 Mount wheel (2) on hub (10) and install six wheel nuts (1) hand tight. 12 Spin the wheel (2) and hand adjust axle nut (7) until wheel spins freely but without any looseness on the axle (12). Insert cotter pin (6) and bend over to lock axle nut (7) in position. 13 Install grease cup (5). 14 Tighten wheel nuts (1) evenly and alternately. 15 Jack up each side of frame in turn and remove jack stands. 16 Again, tighten wheel nuts (1) evenly and alternately. 2-188
