TM 5-4320-305-10 3-5. CLEANING BATTERY WARNING Do not smoke or use open flame or spark-producing equipment in the vicinity of battery. CAUSTIC CHEMICALS IN BATTERIES Serious  injury  could  occur  from  the  careless  handling  of  storage batteries  or  battery  electrolyte  (acid).    If  acid  is  splashed  on  the skin, wash the affected area immediately with plenty of clean water. If  acid  is  splashed  in  the  eyes,    wash  immediately  with  plenty  of clean water and get medical attention. Avoid making contact across the two battery posts.  This can result in severe arcing. 1 Open battery box top (1). 2 Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe dirt or excess fluid from the top surface of batteries (2). 3 Close battery box top. 3-13
