Check that nuts (2)  are  tight  and  free  of  corrosion. Inspect check valve assembly (3) for evidence of leakage or gasket (4) damage, and presence of  outer  check  valve  weight  (5).  Screw  (6) should  be  tight.  All  components  shall  be  free of  corrosion.  When  in  closed  position,  gasket shall appear to make an airtight seal on pump outlet.  Gasket  shall  be  free  to  open  with pump   flow. Check  valve assembly  is cracked  or not  airtight. 4-7
