To   prevent   rolling   or   sliding,    do   not   work   on   equipment   that.   is not   securely   stabilized. Ensure   both   wheels   are   secure. DO  not   smoke,    use   open   flames,    or   excessive   heat   while   working   with   fuel. Avoid   inhalation   of   fumes   from   fuel. Failure   to   obey   these   warnings   may   result   in   personal   in-jury   or   death. Drain   fuel   tank   into   suitable   container. Remove   three-way   fuel   selector   valves   (figure   5-16,   1   and   2). Remove   four   nuts   (3),   lockwashers   (4),   eight   washers   (5),   and   four   bolts   (6). Remove   top   two   straps   (7)   . Remove   fuel   tank   (8)   and   bottom   two   straps   (9)   from   frame. Inspection. Clean   exterior   of   fuel   tank   (8)   with   solvent. Flush   interior   of   fuel   tank   (8)   with   solvent. Purge  fuel  tank  (8)  with  continuous  flow  of  clean  water. Inspect   fuel   tank   (8)   for   leakage. Remove   filler   cap   (10). Inspect   filler   cap   gasket   (11)   and   strainer   (12)   for   damage. Inspect   fuel   gauge   (13)   for   broken   or   cracked   face   glass   and   glass   frame screws   for   looseness. Inspect   straps   for   damage   to   anti-chaffing   material. Repair. Replace  any  missing  or  damaged  parts. Weld   fuel   tank   (8)   in   accordance   with   TM   9-237. Installation. Position   two   bottom   straps   (9)   and   fuel   tank   (8)   on   frame. Install   two   top   straps   (7). I n s t a l l    f o u r    b o l t s    ( 6 ),    eight   washers   (5), four   lockwashers   (4)   and   nuts   (3). Install   three-way   fuel   selector   valves   (1   and   2). 5-46
