TM 10-4320-324-14 3-6.  Service Batteries. CAUTION To prevent short circuits, never rest tools on battery. a. Servicing Battery.  Prior to operating the unit, check electrolyte level in each cell as follows: (1) Remove   two   wing   nuts   (1),   two   washers   (2), strap (3), and two covers (4). (2) Remove caps (5). WARNING To  prevent  serious  burns,  take  the  necessary precautions when filling battery with electrolyte. Do not allow electrolyte to come in contact with skin or eyes.  Use rubber gloves and protective clothing. (3) Visually check the electrolyte level of all cells. (4) Electrolyte level must cover lead plates (6) and be to a level at the lower portion of the fill hole. (5) If electrolyte level is low, add water only. (6) Replace caps (5). (7) Install covers (4) and strap (3) with washers (2) and wings nuts (1). 3-11
