4-42. Fuel Filter/Separator Repair/Replacement (CONT).

Disassembly.
(1) Remove retaining clamp (1), lid (2), gasket (3),
filter element (4), and gasket (5). Discard filter
element (4) and gaskets (3 and 5).
(2) Remove four screws (6) and disassemble base
(7 and 8).
(3) Remove gasket (9), flow director (10), and
bowl/bracket (11).

Cleaning/Inspection.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 is toxic and flammable. Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in
a well ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothes and don't breathe vapor. Do not use
near open flame or excessive heat. The flash point is 100° F-138° F (38°-50° C). If you become dizzy
while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air immediately and get medical aid. If contact with eyes is made,
wash your eyes with water and get medical aid immediately.
(1) Clean all parts with dry cleaning solvent.
(2) Inspect bowl for cracks and leaks. Replace bowl if defective.
(3) Inspect base, lid, and retaining clamp for cracks, breaks and any other defects.
