3-5. Replace/Inspect/Clean Spark Arrestor.

REMOVAL:
a.
Remove nut (1) and washer (2).
b.
Remove spark arrestor (3)
INSPECTION
a.
Inspect spark arrestor components for cracks or damage. Replace damaged spark arrestor.
b Inspect spark arrestor components for carbon deposits.
CLEANING
a.
Wash spark arrestor components thoroughly with diesel fuel or suitable solvent.
b.
Dry spark arrestor components thoroughly before reinstalling.
INSTALLATION:
a.
Position baffles (4) on shaft.
b.
Stagger baffles (4) so notches are misaligned.
c.
Position spark arrestor end cap (5) and secure with washer (2) and nut (1).
