TM 10-4320-311-14 c. Refer to Figure 6-5.  Replace crankshaft oil seal. (1) Insert new crankshaft oil seal (5) Into crankcase cover (3). (2) Insert crankshaft seal into crankcase cover until it is 0.1575 inch (4 mm) deep from the end of crankcase. d. Replace crankcase cover gasket (4). INSTALLATION:  Refer to Figure 6-5. a. Place a crankcase cover gasket (4) between the surface of the crankcase and the crankcase cover (3). b. Apply oil to the lips of oil seal (5). c. Apply lubricating oil to crankshaft and camshaft. d. Make sure that the oil pump drive gears are properly engaged. e. Carefully guide the crankcase cover (3) over the crankshaft and insure that the seal seats properly. f. Attach crankcase cover (3) to the cylinder block using 14 bolts (1) plus additional bolt (2) located above the lube oil strainer. Figure 6-7.  Tightening Sequence for Crankcase Cover Bolts g. Refer to Figure 6-7.  Tighten bolts In sequence shown and torque to 72-96 in-lb (83-110 kg-cm). 6-10
